An FIR has been registered against a local Youth Congress office bearer in Pauri for allegedly instigating youth and hampering government work when youth had gathered to get various certificates to appear for recruitment in the Agnipath scheme. The video of a heated argument between the sub-divisional magistrate of Pauri, Akash Joshi, and the accused Nitin Bisht also went viral on social media. Congress has strongly condemned the behavior of government official and warned of protests.

Meanwhile, the SDM informed about the incident that more than 5,000 youth had come to the Pauri Tehsil premises to get various certificates for appearing in the recruitment of Agniveers. The Tehsil administration was undertaking the task of printing and preparing the certificates from 9 AM to 1:30 AM. On Saturday, when the SDM went to his residence for a meal at 8 PM, Bisht who was calling himself as a youth leader of a political party but not participating in the Agniveer recruitment process reached the Tehsil compound. He allegedly went to the Janadhar room and misbehaved with the staff. Bisht also allegedly began to instigate the youth waiting for the certificates and started to strongly criticise the Agniveer recruitment in an objectionable manner. The SDM reached the Tehsil at this time and tried to explain the situation to the youth. However, Bisht allegedly misbehaved with the official and also threatened him. Considering the possibility of Bisht disturbing the peace and law, the SDM caught hold of him and took him outside the scene of the incident. After than an FIR was lodged against him for disrupting government work, misbehaving with government personnel and instigating youth regarding the Agniveer recruitment. Joshi further said that the accused was sharing an incomplete video clip of the incident on social media to misguide the people. The SDM has refuted the “rumours” being spread by the accused regarding the incident.
