STF arrests two more accused in UKSSSC question paper leak case

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested two more accused in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) question paper leak case on the weekend. Chandan Singh Manral, a 63-year-old operator of a Ramnagar-based NGO was held on Saturday and a government teacher from Bageshwar, Jagdish Goswami was arrested on Sunday. The STF has arrested 22 accused so far in connection with the case out of which nine are reported to be government employees.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ajai Singh informed that his team came across Manral’s name while they were interrogating other accused arrested in the case. Singh said that the accused was allegedly selling the leaked question paper to candidates a day before the examination. According to some candidates, they were taken to Dhampur a day before the examination by Chandan Manral who also helped them to memorise the answers to question papers at a home.

 “Manral was called for questioning and arrested later based on available evidence and witnesses on Saturday. He also has assets worth crores of rupees and officials are looking into it too,” said the SSP. The STF arrested the next accused on Sunday- a government teacher from Bageshwar Jagdish Goswami. According to the STF, Goswami also allegedly gathered some candidates from around his area and took them to Dhampur to help them memorise the leaked paper the night before the examination and left them back at the examination centres the next day.
