The festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr was celebrated with traditional fervour by Muslims in the city on Thursday. The festival was held under the security measures implemented by the authorities to ensure a peaceful celebration. To mark the celebrations, members of the Muslim community dressed up in traditional and festive attire, expressing their joy and camaraderie by exchanging greetings.

The mosques near Paltan Bazaar, Prince Chowk and many others witnessed a gathering of Muslims offering Namaz, particularly during the morning hours. To facilitate the congregants in performing their prayers, traffic on several routes was diverted on Thursday.

Commenting about the excitement of celebrating Eid, local resident Shana Zaid said that Eid-ul-Fitr is a significant day for the people in their community. This day follows their holy month of Ramzan, during which fasting and prayer are observed. She said that on Eid day, they wear new clothes and prepare various food items to make the occasion memorable. The month of Ramzan began on March 12 and concluded on April 10, with the sighting of the moon indicating Eid on April 11.
