Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das along with representatives of Doon Udyog Vyapar Mandal (DUVM) met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence on Monday and apprised him about the allegedly substandard works being done under smart city project. The mayor informed the CM about the irregularities purportedly being done by the officials of the Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL).Das also said that tiles laid down in the Paltan Bazaar area are of substandard quality and must be changed. He said that a proper plan should be decided and discussed with local shopkeepers and works of top-notch quality must be done accordingly. The member of DUVM, Siddharth Umesh Agrawal also appealed to Dhami to ensure that officials carry out work in the marketplaces with the consent of local shopkeepers. The union members also demanded to stop the construction work in the other part of the market till construction work from Clock Tower to Kotwali gets completed. The secretary of the union Sunil Masson informed that the CM immediately called the district magistrate of Dehradun and chief executive officer (CEO) of DSCL, R Rajesh Kumar to discuss the issue and asked him to halt the ongoing construction work in the marketplace for the time being and hold a meeting with shopkeepers. He also directed him to ensure that the contractors of the area do not carry out substandard work under the smart city project. Masson said that CM assured them that no work will be done in the marketplace without keeping the shopkeepers in the loop.
