Authorities arrest cyber fraudster from Kolkata

The joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and cyber crime cell has arrested the main accused of a gang, 31-year-old Manish Kumar from Kolkata who allegedly scammed a Raipur area resident of Rs 14 lakh in the name of earning huge profits through the installation of Reliance Jio tower.  The officials informed that the accused has revealed during the investigation that he had given a diary through which one of his gang members 26-year-old Pooja Chakravarthy used to convince people to invest money for the installation of Reliance Jio tower to get long term financial benefits. They used the bank accounts of another gang member 38-year-old Dudh Kumar to get the money sent by the victims, as per the police.The police said that they have served a notice to other two accused in Kolkata-  Dudh Kumar and Pooja Chakravarthy under section 41(a) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the same case and they both are yet to be interrogated regarding their involvement in the scam. According to the police, they will soon send a chargesheet against the arrested accused and the other two accused. The authorities have recovered 13 sim cards, seven debit cards, five mobile phones, an Aadhar card and PAN card and a laptop from the accused which have been used in cyber frauds, informed the police.
