Latching on to the continuing sleaze video political slugfest involving the NDA leader Prajwal Revanna who is the grandson of the former Prime Minister and president of NDA partner Janata Dal (S) H D Deve Gowda, the Uttarakhand State Congress vice- president Surya Kant Dhasmana said here on Wednesday that BJP’s protective behaviour towards the accused reveals the anti-women bias set deep into the saffron party’s psyche. “Saffron protection to Prajwal is just one of the numerous instances which reveal that BJP is insensitive towards women’s dignity in contrast to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rhetoric on women’s safety, education and respect. We may cite the harassment of the women wrestlers by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Uttar Pradesh, Ankita Bhandari murder case in Uttarakhand and the gruesome acts against women, including murders, in Manipur,” he said.
Gun trained on BJP and the PM, the State Congress leader said that Modi has been maintaining a stony silence on the Prajwal Revanna case while campaigning. “This is indeed shocking. What is more, BJP has chosen to keep JD (S) as a NDA ally without batting an eyelid on the shameful videos now in circulation on the social media. This means BJP loves to cling to power by any means even by sacrificing all moral values,” he said and added that the Prajwal incident would impact BJP’s poll prospects negatively and limit its seat tally to less than 200.
