The Union minister for Power and, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh averred that 24 hour power supply has been ensured in urban and rural areas in the country. He said that electricity was inadequate till 2015 due to which it was supplied for about 12 hours a day in many areas but now it is being supplied round the clock across the nation which is also boosting the nation’s economy. Singh said this after arriving here for the three-day 4th Ranking & Open Canoe Sprint Senior championships to be held on the Tehri dam reservoir from Wednesday.
Singh was welcomed by the Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay, THDCIL chairman and managing director RK Vishnoi and district officials on his arrival here.
It should be mentioned here that about 300 participants from 21 States are participating in the sporting event. The championship is being organised by the THDCIL in collaboration with the Kayaking and Canoeing Association of Uttarakhand, Indian Olympic Association, Uttarakhand Olympic Association and ITBP as technical partner.
