Alleging that the committee constituted by the Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate to stop black marketeering of wheat is harassing the traders, Kumaun Garhwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) chairman Ashok Bansal demanded that the DM should take action against the committee members. He further said that the committee members had made the contents of the report public through media before it was submitted to the DM. He also refuted the allegation of the committee that variation was found in the wheat stocked by the traders, averring that finding such variations in stocks was quite normal. He added that when the traders purchase wheat from farmers at prices higher than the minimum support price there is no question of black marketeering.
Casting doubt on the intention of the committee, Bansal said that they were out to malign the image of the traders to please the higher-ups in the administration.
