108 ambulance service responds to 66 calls related to accidents on Holi

The 108 ambulance service received five times more calls related to accidents on the day of Holi festival on Monday.  The General Manager (GM) projects Anil Sharma said that a total of 66 calls related to accidents were registered on the festival of Holi. He said that on a normal day 15 to 20 calls related to accidents are received by the ambulance service.

He further informed that 237 calls related to pregnancy, 126 road accidents, 37 cardiac problems and 284 other calls were received by the 108 service between March 24 and 25.  Similarly 251 calls were transferred to police control rooms as they were related to Police.  In Dehradun district, emergency help was provided to 126 people by the 108 ambulance service on Holi. It included 24 cases of road accidents, 26 related to pregnancy and six cardiac cases. 

The service had cancelled the leaves of its staff and had made arrangements for deployment of security personnel with every ambulance. Additional mobile teams were pressed into service for Holi in all the districts of the state.
