Traffic woes resume on city roads after Global Investors Summit

Tuesday, 12 December 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Two days after the conclusion of the Global Investors Summit, traffic issues have resurfaced in the provisional State capital. Many locals have opined that the traffic management by the authorities was efficient during the investors summit and the roadside vendors had also been removed. In order to maintain the smooth flow of traffic after the summit, the police and other relevant authorities should monitor both street vendors and traffic management closely, the local residents opined.

Commenting on the current scenario of traffic in the city, local resident Payal Mehta said that the traffic management during the investors summit was effective, making driving on the roads a smoother experience. However, after the summit, the usual traffic congestion has returned to the city roads due to the presence of street vendors and other factors. To ensure smooth traffic flow in the city, the police must implement measures against the encroachments hampering traffic, she added.

Another local resident Lata Jain said during the investors summit, the traffic flow was efficiently managed by the authorities, leading to smooth traffic. However, currently there seems to be a lack of concern towards traffic management. Additionally, she said that the emergence of street vendors on the roadside is a major factor contributing to the traffic congestion.

Jain further said for the smooth functioning of traffic in the city, the police must make some necessary plans for traffic management. Additionally, strict action must be taken by the authorities against the encroachment on the roadside.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh has directed the police to take stern measures against any temporary encroachments on the roadside.
