The Pauri senior superintendent of police Lokeshwar Singh on Sunday suspended all police personnel of Bazaar police Chowki of Pauri’s Srinagar after an audio clip went viral on social media in which some police personnel were allegedly talking about throwing a party and inviting others for alcohol consumption on Holi. In the viral audio, a policeman is allegedly talking to his colleagues about a liquor party on Holi.

The other personnel in the audio can also be heard talking about preparing a list and including homeguards personnel in the party. This audio went viral on social media platforms on Saturday. The police personnel in the audio were reportedly from Srinagar’s Bazaar Chowki and many people criticised their careless behaviour just before the Holi. Considering this, the SSP took cognisance of the issue and suspended all police personnel including the Chowki in-charge and reverted them to the police line.

Besides this, all home guards were also sent back to Pauri district commandant homeguard office, Singh said. He said that he took this action against all police personnel of the Chowki on the basis of the initial inquiry. “We have retrieved the audio clip and are investigating the matter. We are also looking for the person who recorded the audio and circulated it on social media platforms. The police are investigating the matter and will take further action accordingly,” he added.
