SIIDCUL launches greening drive in industrial areas

On the occasion of World Environment Day theState Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation Limited (SIIDCUL) and the Indo-German Development Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) supported greening drive in industrial areas of Uttarakhand was started. The drive aims to reduce Industrial pollution through plantation of conducive plants for improving air quality, moisture retention and various other purposes.The plantation drive has been flagged off in all seven industrial areas of the state, said SIIDCUL managing director Ranvir Singh Chauhan. Chauhan said, “At SIIDUCL we have flagged off the plantation drive in all the seven Integrated Industrial Estates (IIEs) – Pantnagar, Haridwar, Dehradun, Selaqui, Kotdwar, Kashipur and Sitarganj. We are committed to promote sustainable industrial development in the state of Uttarakhand. Plantation is one of the major means by which one can considerably reduce the instances of air pollution, humidity, also global warming.”

SIIDCUL general manager PC Dumka,“The plantation drive should continue during and after the monsoons so that the communities in the surroundings have access to a better environment altogether. We believe that industrial development should not become detrimental to the wellbeing of the environment. Sustainable and inclusive development is our focus.”

Meanwhile, ex-minister Santosh Kashyap also participated in a tree plantation event held with the cooperation of SIIDCUL officials. SIIDCUL AGM Rakhi Kashyap and others were also present on the occasion.
