The Uttarakhand police have deployed forces separately at all Char Dham shrines to ensure a safe and secure Char Dham Yatra that is scheduled to commence on May 10, the officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar said. He informed the police have deployed forces separately at all Char Dhams and associated routes. “We have also opened a seasonal police station each at the Badrinath Temple, Kedarnath Temple and at Gangotri and Yamunotri. We have also deployed home guards separately at all four Dhams on the Yatra routes. Also, we are making arrangements for CCTV for surveillance,” the DGP said. He also appealed to pilgrims to take extra precautions while driving on the Char Dham routes as many tourists coming from outside do not have experience of driving on mountainous areas.

He said, “The Transport department has made arrangements for test driving at various checkpoints and after checking, the vehicles will be sent further. But, it is not possible to conduct a driving test of every vehicle at the entry points in Rishikesh or any other place of Char Dham  shrines. So, I request all devotees to take safety cautions at their level.” He also asked all pilgrims and tourists to abide by rules in the State to avoid inconveniences during the Yatra.
