Rituals begin at Omkareshwar for reopening of Kedarnath

The ritual process for reopening of the Kedarnath temple began with ceremonial prayers at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath on Sunday. The ceremonial Doli of lord Kedarnath carrying his Panchmukhi Chal-Vigrah Murti will depart for Kedarnath on Monday, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) officials said.

On Sunday evening, the ritual worship of lord Bhairavnath was held at the Omkareshwar temple, the winter seat of lord Kedarnath. The ritual worship continued till late in the night. The BKTC had completed necessary arrangements for the worship and the Panchmukhi Doli Yatra. The committee officials further informed that the Doli will depart from Ukhimath on Monday and reach Guptkashi on the same day. After reaching the Vishwanath temple in Guptkashi and a night halt there, the Doli will depart from Guptkashi on Tuesday and reach Fata. On Wednesday it will pass through Gaurikund and on Thursday it will pass through Gauri Mata Mandir in Gaurikund to reach Kedarnath on the evening of May 9. The portals of Kedarnath temple will be ceremoniously reopened to the devotees at 7 AM on Friday. The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri are also slated to be reopened to the devotees on May 10 while Badrinath will be reopened to the devotees on May 12.

It is pertinent to mention here that at least 20 lakh people have registered for the Char Dham Yatra so far.
