In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Tehri Garhwal MP Mala Rajya Laxhmi Shah complimented the   chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the UCC Bill being tabled in the assembly. “The State has scripted history being the first one in the country to have done that. I am particularly elated as the bill is intended to end gender discrimination on the grounds of religion and now the women’s rights will be protected under the UCC across the religious spectrum,” she said.  She also referred to the provisions included in the UCC Bill for the live- in couples, saying that the UCC Act would end uncertainty that the children born out of such relation face with no fault of their own.    She also spoke appreciatively of the bill intending to bring equality in the matter of property inheritance, irrespective of religions.
