The Pauri Garhwal police have arrested a man Vinay Singh alias Danni for allegedly molesting and assaulting a deaf-mute minor girl in the jurisdiction of revenue police of Kotdwar Tehsil of the district on Monday. The police informed that a local woman had filed a first information report (FIR) on April 1 stating that her hearing impaired daughter had been allegedly molested and beaten up by a man. The revenue police registered a case against the accused under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act. Considering it a serious matter, the district administration transferred the case to the regular police from the revenue police. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yashwant Singh Chauhan formed a team supervised by Circle Officer (CO) of Kotdwar Ganesh Lal Koli and sub-inspector Deepa Mall. The police informed that on the basis of the tips from informers and collected evidence, the accused Vinay Singh, who is also a local, was finally nabbed on Monday. The police said that they are currently looking into any possible criminal history of the accused in the molestation of minors or others.
