Three shops turned to ashes after a massive fire broke out in the Mallital area of Nainital early on Sunday morning.
The officials informed that a fire broke out in a closed mobile shop in the market area of Mallital at around 3 AM on Sunday. The locals who noticed smoke and flames rising from the shop called the police and fire brigade. By the time authorities reached, the fire spread to the other two nearby shops. Several fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the situation after several hours but the three shops had burnt to ashes during this period.
Some nearby properties were also damaged due to the fire. The officials informed that there was also a hotel above the shops that caught fire endangering the lives of tourists. However, tourists were evacuated safely from their rooms by the authorities with the help of locals. No loss of life occurred in the fire accident, as per the officials. According to them, a short circuit appears to be the cause of the fire but nothing concrete can be said so far.
