Schemes should be made while focusing on resolution of the problems which are fuelling migration from the villages. Chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu said this while chairing a meeting with district magistrates and other officials regarding migration.

Sandhu said that a development scheme should be made for not only a village but its surrounding areas as well to stop migration from the area. Sandhu further said that along with border region villages, the villages facing more problems should be taken up on priority basis while the villages experiencing fewer problems can be taken up later. The district magistrate concerned and his team will have to visit the site and ascertain what area specific plans can be introduced to prevent migration. He talked about preparing area specific and need based schemes while including nearby areas to prepare integrated schemes.  Along with economic activities, availability of education, health and roads along with other basic facilities should be ensured.
