Jaypee Hospital begins monthly liver OPD in Doon

Sunday, 29 July 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

Jaypee Hospital, Noida, began its OPD services for liver diseases at the Arihant Hospital here on Friday. This facility will be provided at the hospital from 11 AM to 4 PM on every fourth Friday of the month.

The experts from Jaypee Hospitals brought the best of the treatment options available for the people living in the adjoining areas.

Additional director, department of liver transplant and surgical gastroenterology at Jaypee hospital, Dr Punit Singla said, “When a liver is working well, it purifies the blood, helps in digestion and fights infection. It is vital to the body’s metabolic functions and immune system as it converts food nutrients into products that are required for the proper functioning of the body. The cultural–lifestyle transition that we are passing through currently with progressive adoption of a western diet, sedentary habits, along with an aura of freedom from long‐held taboos around alcohol in the society creates grounds for a spectrum of liver diseases in India that shows signs of a rapid switch.”

“Lifestyle changes, such as losing weight and lowering cholesterol, are other first lines of defence when it comes to treating the cause of liver pain. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is managed almost exclusively by modifying your diet and exercise routine. Alcohol is directly toxic to liver cells and can cause liver inflammation, referred to as alcoholic hepatitis,” added Dr Abhishek Agrawal, consultant, department of liver transplant and surgical gastroenterology.

Arihant Hospital director Dr Abhishek Jain said, “We are delighted to partner with Jaypee Hospitals as our association will enhance the healthcare ecosystem and improve the quality of life of the patients in Dehradun who are suffering from liver related diseases. We look forward to having a unified approach in jointly offering superior services in the region.”
