Probe ordered into Godiyal’s tenure as BKTC chairman

In a development which could increase the problems of the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, the minister in-charge of Chamoli district Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the chief secretary and secretary of religious affairs to investigate the charges of irregularities during his tenure as chairman of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). Godiyal was the chairman of the BKTC from the year 2012 to 2017.

The minister has taken cognisance of a complaint submitted by the member of BKTC Ashutosh Dimri. In a letter Dimri has leveled serious charges on Godiyal during his tenure as chairman of the BKTC. He has claimed that many financial irregularities had occurred in the temple committee during the period when Godiyal was chairman of BKTC. Dimri has claimed that two officers had openly violated the Mandir Act and were involved in draining crores of rupees of the temples. He has alleged that a road in Tehri district was constructed in the year 2015 from the funds of BKTC and a Shiva temple was reconstructed in Pokhri of Chamoli which was not under the BKTC. Dimri has also alleged corruption in appointments done by the committee during the tenure of Godiyal.

Acting on the complaint, minister Rawat has ordered the CS and department secretary to start an investigation.
