With the Kanwad Mela set to start from next week after a gap of two years, the Pauri district administration is doing its bit to ensure proper arrangements at the Neelkanth Mahadev temple. District magistrate Vijay Kumar Jogdande and senior superintendent of police Yashwant Singh Chauhan have inspected various works.
Pulling up officials for not complying with earlier instructions, Jogdande warned that action will be taken against the official concerned if any issues are found with drinking water supply, sanitation and stray animal control. He also directed the Peyjal Nigam officials to make alternate arrangements of water tankers to ensure continuous supply of drinking water and stop the leakage of water in the Mela area.
The chief medical officer has been instructed to provide medical team, medicine and ambulance in the identified points of Kanwad Yatra route. Apart from directing repair of damaged infrastructure, he ordered removal of encroachments and display of rate lists in restaurants and eateries.
The SSP directed department personnel to establish coordination with district Panchayat, Yatra committee and PWD for easier Yatra and parking facility. It is pertinent to mention here that the Neelkanth Mahadev temple in Yamkeshwar block of the district attracts lakhs of pilgrims especially during the Shrawan period.
