Students of Joshimath to give board exam at centre of choice

The students of the Joshimath city affected by continued land subsidence would be allowed a facility of the examination centre of their choice in the upcoming board examinations. Soon the Boards would ask the students of Joshimath to submit the choice of the examination centre. An order regarding this was given by the education minister Dhan Singh Rawat to the officers of the department during a meeting at the education directorate on Tuesday. Rawat who has returned after touring the affected areas of Joshimath city directed that a list of the students residing in the affected areas and the board their schools is affiliated with should be prepared. He said that this list would be provided to the officers of the board concerned. Rawat said that most of the students in Joshimath city are from either Uttarakhand Board or the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He said that the regional officer of the CBSE, Dehradun and secretary of Uttarakhand Board, Ramnagar have been directed to allot the examination centres of choice to the students of the affected areas of Joshimath. In the meeting the minister reviewed the preparation of the department for the ‘Pariksha par Charcha’ programme of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on January 27. He said that the PM would address the students preparing for the board examination in the programme.

 Rawat said that the programme would be telecast in all the schools of all the block headquarters on the day and the officers concerned have been directed to make necessary preparations for the programme.

The minister said that a drawing competition on the theme, Exam warrior book of PM Modi would be held in all the schools of the State from January 20 and 23.

Rawat said that the presence of all the Member of Parliament (MP), local MLAs, district panchayat president, block Pramukh and public representatives is compulsory in both (Pariksha Par Charcha and Drawing competition) programmes. He added that the officers of the department have been asked to coordinate with the public representatives for these programmes.

 The meeting was attended by the secretary education; Ravinath Raman, additional secretary Yogendra Yadav, director general (DG) school education Bansidhar Tiwari, joint secretary and regional officer CBSE Ranvir Singh, director education RK Kunwar, director primary education Vandana Gabriyal and others were present on the occasion.
