Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Union Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ Bharatiya Janata Party state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam and BJP State president Madan Kaushik among other party leaders campaigned for the party candidate Mahesh Jeena ahead of the Salt assembly bypoll to be held on April 17.

Addressing a large public gathering on Thursday, the CM elicited votes of the people for the BJP candidate to enable completion of the works started by the late MLA Surendra Singh Jeena. He said that it was unfortunate that the bypoll had to be held following the demise of the sitting MLA but added that the BJP is committed to fulfilling the promises made by the MLA to the public and completing the works he had undertaken for the development of the constituency and welfare of the people.

Union minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, BJP State in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, party’s state head Madan Kaushik, former CM Vijay Bahuguna and other party leaders also sought support for the party candidate and the brother of the late MLA. State ministers Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya were also present on the occasion.
