Serious objections have been raised by an Manish Verma, an independent candidate from the Haridwar parliamentary constituency against the nomination paper of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Haridwar Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Till the filing of this report the decision of the returning officer was pending.
Verma filed an affidavit raising objections to the returning officer asking that ‘Nishank’s’ nomination paper be rejected. Following this an argument ensued between the lawyers of the BJP candidate and the complainant. The district election officer has asked for written justification from the lawyers.
One of the objections listed in the affidavit said that bank account of Vidushi Nishank, the daughter of the BJP candidate has not been listed with existing balance amount. Another objection is that the no dues from his residence of Delhi as Parliamentarian were provisional. It is also stated that Shreyanshi Nishank, another daughter of his has left service in foreign country and joined Indian defence services during the past one year but her income and bank balance has not been shown in the nomination papers. The complainant has also objected to details regarding payment due against possession of the official residence in Dehradun and how much had been paid.
Meanwhile the nomination of Shiv Kumar Kashyap of Manav Hit Party, Krishna Dhar Pandey of Pyramid Party of India and Manoj Jain were cancelled by the district election officer.
