The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ has extended the period of 20 percent rebate on property tax till November 30. On Sunday, the tax section of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) was kept open as per the order of the mayor so that maximum people can deposit the tax before the festival holidays begin in the city.
The counters in the tax section remained open for taxpayers from 10 am to 3 pm. The municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly informed that the corporation collected a total of Rs 13.52 lakh on Sunday including Rs 3.5 lakh from the camps set up in three locations- the Balliwala Chowk area, Rajeev Nagar and Kandoli. Till now, the corporation has collected the property tax of only about Rs 20 crore in this financial year.
