Light rain likely in mountains, no relief from heat in plains

Some parts of the State have witnessed light rain and windy conditions in recent days. Light rain was reported in some places on Tuesday too. However, this has not brought any major relief from the rising temperatures especially in the plain regions. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Wednesday while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 34 degrees Celsius and 18.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.6 degrees Celsius and 16.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.6 degrees Celsius and 10.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.8 degrees Celsius and 11.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Further, light rain was reported in some parts of the State on Tuesday with 4.5 millimetres in Mori, two millimetres in Bharsar, 3.4 millimetres in Pithoragarh and one millimetre in Gangolihat.
