The vigilance department arrested a survey lekhpal after he was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The complainant had lodged complaint on the helpline number 1064. The complainant said that two plots of lands were purchased by his father in 1991 in Banshipur and Herbartpur areas. However, these lands had not been transferred in the name of his family members after his death in 1996. The complainant further said that he had submitted a prayer to the local lekhpal in the name of his elder brother for the change of the owner’s name. But the patwari kept demanding Rs 10,000 for the change of name. Then a trap was laid by the vigilance department team and the lekhpal was caught red-handed while taking bribe.
