Lakhs visit Neelkanth Mahadev on Shrawan Shivratri

Lakhs of Kanwadiyas visited the Neelkanth Mahadev temple on the occasion of Shrawan Shivratri on Saturday. The crowd of Kanwadiyas and other devotees started gathering from midnight at this shrine in the Yamkeshwar block of Pauri district. Most of the devotees were from Bijnor, Saharanpur and Shamli areas of Uttar Pradesh, along with Haridwar and Dehradun. At least 12 lakh people had visited this temple till 4 PM on Saturday. More than 44 lakh Kanwadiyas had already visited this temple till Friday.

Pauri senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey was present with her team to ensure proper arrangements in the area for the past two nights. The deputy inspector general of Garhwal region Karan Singh Naganyal inspected the arrangements in different places including Garudchatti on Friday and instructed the deployed police force to be vigilant. He congratulated and appreciated the SSP and the department for the arrangements. The Pauri district magistrate Ashish Chauhan also conducted a physical inspection of the Kanwad Yatra route of Neelkanth temple from Bagkhala to Mauni Baba cave on Friday and instructed officials of the Forest department and others concerned to make better arrangements of cleanness and sanitation.
