The police on Thursday retrieved the body of a teenager from Pashulok Barrage who was missing for a week. The officials informed that some locals informed the police about noticing a dead body in the barrage on Thursday after which the police called a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at the spot along with the necessary equipment.
The team led by sub inspector Sachin Rawat took considerable time to retrieve the body and then handed it over to the police, said the officials. According to them, the police have identified the body as a 19-year-old young man Lalit Tomar alias Karan who had arrived in Rishikesh along with his family members from Delhi last week.
Tomar had gone missing while taking a bath in the Ganga River at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh on April 22 and the police have been searching for him consistently since then, as per the officials. They said that the deceased family has identified the body and the police will hand it over to them soon after completing the required procedure.
