Preparations complete for LS polling in Uttarkashi

In latest news from Uttarakhand, with barely a day left for campaigning to end for the April- 19 polling,   the Uttarkashi district administration and the district police claimed to have completed preparations to ensure free, fair and peaceful election across the district. The district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht and the superintendent of police Arpan Yaduvanshi reviewed the election duty/arrangements at Police Line Gyansu Uttarkashi and necessary guidelines related to election duty were briefed to the personnel assigned poll duty.

During the briefing, the DM told the zonal and sector magistrates to maintain highest level of alert about the security of EVMs and VVPATs while all the staffers on poll duty were instructed to reach their respective polling centres by the prescribed routes well before the polling starts. The SP gave instructions on security arrangements to be made during the voting process at the booths. He also directed all police officers and personnel to behave politely with the voters.  

Sharing details, the deputy superintendent of police, Uttarkashi Prashant Kumar said that the three assembly constituencies in Uttarkashi district which are parts of the Tehri Lok Sabha constituency-Purola, Yumnotri and Gangotri- have been divided into two super zones, 13 zones and 123 sectors. There are a total of 534 polling stations in the district out of which 40 are marked as sensitive. This time, for transparent and peaceful election, around 2000 police personnel have been deployed on poll duty while eight sections Indian Reserve Battalion and 16 sections CAPF/ITBP/PAC have been stationed across the district.
