Accusing the State government for shedding crocodile tears for the affected families of the electrocution incident of Chamoli, the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has demanded that a compensation of Rs 25 lakh should be given to the families of the victims and one member from every affected family should be provided a government job. Interacting with the media-persons at the headquarters of the State unit of the party on Monday, the Congress leader said that the government is claiming to have taken strict action against those responsible for the electrocution incident but the fact is that it has only blacklisted three companies. “The government has not paid adequate compensation to the affected families. Instead of registering a case of culpable homicide not amounting  to murder against the culprits, the government has only blacklisted the companies which is an attempt to save the guilty,’’ he said. The Congress leader said that the attitude of the government in the electrocution incident is highly deplorable and unacceptable.Congratulating the government for the recent census data of Tigers according to which the population of Tigers has increased in the State, Godiyal said that the government should also show some sympathy towards the families who have lost their members due to attacks by Tigers and other wild animals in the State. He said that a compensation of only Rs two to Rs four lakhs is paid to the affected families which is meagre. The Congress leader demanded that the compensation in such cases should be increased to Rs 50 lakhs and emphasis should be made on reducing human- animal conflict. Godiyal also alleged irregularities in the recent recruitment done by the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board and demanded that an inquiry should be conducted on the role of Minister Dhan Singh Rawat in the episode
