In latest news from Doon, a new feature film titled Meri Gaon Ki Baat that delineates the socio-familial ethos of Jaunsar -Bawar region of Dehradun is all set for release. The historian Srichand Sharma said that made in the Jaunsari language, the film has scenes which present several societal and wedding practices unique in this region.
Significantly, the brides go to the bridegrooms’ homes with wedding guests and by way of dowry, the brides’ families give just five utensils to the grooms, said the creative director K S Chauhan. While Abhinav Chauhan is playing the lead role Priyanka Chauhan is playing the lead female role in the film. Anuj Joshi is the director and writer and the film is being produced under the banner of Sumit Kaul Production.
