Tourists throng Nainital to escape rising temperatures

Amidst rising temperatures in the plains, people from various cities in different States thronged Nainital and nearby destinations on the weekend. The police had to work harder to manage the high number of tourists and tourist vehicles at a time when the authorities are also focusing on the ensuing Lok Sabha election.

In Nainital, a large number of tourists enjoyed boating on the Naini lake. The Cave Garden operated by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam was visited by 692 people on Saturday while 747 tourists visited the Woodland waterfall located on the Nainital-Kaladhungi motor road. In addition to these destinations, the Himalayan botanical garden was visited by 153 tourists. Further, a number of tourists also visited Hanumangarhi, Khurpatal, Kilburry and other popular tourist destinations in and around Nainital city. The popular zoo in Nainital also witnessed a crowd of visitors throughout the day. The local businessmen expect the number of tourists to rise further on Sunday.
