Students to be enrolled in Garhwal University-affiliated colleges based on merit

The enrollment of students in the under-graduate courses at HNB Garwhal Central University this year will be based on the merit list. The university vice-chancellor Annpurna Nautiyal informed that due to factors related to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), many seats in colleges have remained vacant. Previously, admissions in the colleges were determined by merit. However, this year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it compulsory for students to successfully clear the CUET in order to enroll in colleges, she added.

Nautiyal further informed that the admission process is almost complete, but there are still many vacant seats. Many students have been unable to attempt the CUET due to limited resources provided by the national test agents and admit cards related to the CUET were also issued late to the students. Considering this, the governing body of Garhwal Central University has decided to allow students to enroll in colleges based on the merit list this year. In relation to this, a proposal has been sent to the UGC, she added.
