Mahara asks star campaigners to plunge in Bageshwar poll battle

With the campaign for the Assembly by-election of Bageshwar picking up pace, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has appealed to all the star campaigners and senior leaders of the party to start campaigning for the party candidate. In a letter to all the 40 star campaigners the party has selected for the bypoll, the PCC president has said that the campaigning for the by -election will end on September 3 and requested them to reach Bageshwar. He said that the star campaigners should inform about their plan to visit Bageshwar to the state and district party offices so that their campaign programme is scheduled.

 Mahara is consistently camping in Bageshwar since August 8 and is devising the strategy for the party. Another senior leader and leader of opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya too is camping in Bageshwar.

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the PCC president has been camping in Bageshwar for the last many days and meeting the voters personally. He said that the people of Bageshwar will give a fitting reply to the anti development policies and plethora of lies of BJP. Joshi claimed that the Congress candidate will register a landslide victory in Bageshwar. The names of in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, the PCC  president Karan Mahara, LoP in  State assembly Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh, Ganesh Godiyal, senior leaders Harak Singh Rawat, Qazi Nizamuddin,  Pradeep and MLAs of the party are in the list of star campaigners.

The BJP has fielded Parvati Dass, the widow of late Chandan Ram Dass in the by- election while Congress has put its bet on Basant Kumar for the by-election. The voting for the by-election will be held on September 5 and the counting of votes will be done on September 8 and the result will be declared on the same day.
