Best possible assistance being provided to Joshimath disaster victims: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the land subsidence disaster victims in Joshimath are being provided all possible assistance. He said this after reviewing the relief efforts in Joshimath on Saturday. Dhami said that the best possible option is being implemented for rehabilitation of the disaster affected. The best compensation has also been fixed for the disaster victims, he said. 

The CM further said that those who are in a position to take the compensation should do so at the earliest. For the disaster affected people who do not have their own land, prefabricated structures will be built after identifying land. Dhami also inspected the prefabricated structures built for the disaster affected along Auli Road.

Informing about the disaster relief works, the Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana said that 167 families have been kept in relief camps from the safety point of view. A sum of Rs 10.46 crore has been distributed as compensation to the affected land owners in Joshimath so far. Relief material is being distributed and health checks are also being facilitated on a regular basis in the relief camps, added the district magistrate.

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt, Karnprayag MLA Anil Nautiyal, Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta, Joshimath municipality chairman Shailendra Panwar and others were also present on the occasion.
