One university one research project starts in U’khand

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said that the universities of the state should undertake one research each based on their expertise in the interests of the State. He gave the direction while chairing a meeting of the vice chancellors of the universities of the State at Raj Bhawan on Thursday. He said that the research under the one university one research project will prove beneficial for the development of the State and for upliftment of the people  of the State. He said that all the universities should present their report based on their research after one year.

The governor said that the document presented by the university after the research will be shared with the State government for implementation on ground. He opined that the research undertaken by the universities will be fruitful only when the people get their benefit. In

Singh further said that the universities should ensure transparency and accountability by using digitisation, artificial intelligence and technology. He directed that the universities should make maximum use of technology in their working and share best practices among one another. The governor directed that universities should start best teacher and best research awards to encourage teachers and researchers. He said that the practice will prompt the teachers and researchers to work with renewed energy. The governor also directed the VCs to set up e-libraries. He said that e- libraries are a must in this age of technology in which the syllabus and study material is available online for the students.  The governor inaugurated the e-library of the Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU)  on the occasion. The library has 7.24 lakh books and study material.

 The VC of UTU Onkar Singh gave a presentation on the mark sheets given by the university and its safety features. He said the degree and the marksheets given by the university have 25 safety features which will prevent any chances of duplicity.

 The governor appreciated the innovations and encouraged the universities for better performance. In the meeting the issue of affiliations of institutes was also discussed. The meeting was attended by the secretary to the governor Ravinath Raman, secretaries Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Chandresh Kumar Yadav, Deependra Kumar Chaudhary, VCs of the universities and others.
