Mostly rural applicants look for employment opportunities through HOPE

From over 5,000 registrations in Dehradun district for employment opportunities through Helping Out People Everywhere (HOPE) portal, more than 3,000 registrations belong to the applicants from rural areas alone.

In view of getting better employment opportunities in Dehradun district during the pandemic, about 5,200 people have registered in the portal so far which was launched in May to provide employment to migrant returnees, as per the district nodal officer of HOPE, Ajay Singh. He informed that the district administration has already contacted about 3,500 applicants so far while many among the remaining applicants could not be contacted. “Since the portal was mainly launched for migrants who had to return here after Covid-19 pandemic hit the country in March or lost the job due to it, many could have returned to their jobs again as we could not contact many applicants,” said Singh.

The officials informed that the list of registered applicants in the portal is sent to the departments concerned regarding the field in which the applicants have shown their interest through the application. According to them, the administration has sent around 3000 applications to 10 departments but most of the applications are forwarded to the four main departments as per the registrations that include department of industries, agriculture department, dairy development department and tourist department besides Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM). The officials pointed out that over 3000 applicants have registered in the portal under skilled professionals while about 2000 applicants have registered under unskilled professionals. The nodal officer Singh said that the HOPE portal helps applicants to connect with different government schemes like Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana (MSY) and UKSDM to get the best employment opportunities and even those can register who have not even completed their education or hold any professional skill.
