Wholesaler ambushed, robbed of Rs 8 lakh

The police are searching for three men who allegedly robbed a wholesale dealer of Rs eight lakh on Thursday evening. The businessman was returning on a two-wheeler after collecting money from retailers in Manglaur when he was reportedly attacked by three men using sticks. The assailants hit him on the head and leaving him injured escaped with the bag said to contain about Rs eight lakh.

Rahul Garg, a resident of Solanipuram in the Roorkee Kotwali area goes to the market weekly to collect payments from retailers. On Thursday, he had gone to collect payment from the shopkeepers of Manglaur.  At about 7:30 PM while returning to Roorkee, he slowed down his two-wheeler at a speed breaker at Abdul Kalam Chowk in Manglaur Kotwali area.  Three miscreants riding bikes ambushed him and attacked him with sticks as soon as he slowed down. Garg lost his balance and fell down while the assailants escaped with his bag full of money.

The businessman then called on 112 following which the police reached the site. Manglaur circle officer Pankaj Gairola and Kotwali in-charge inspector Rajiv Rauthan took the details from the victim after which the search for the accused was started.
