The commission has violated its own regulations in the recruitment examinations conducted by it: Kapdi

The Uttarakhand Congress has alleged gross irregularities in the recruitment examinations conducted by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). The party has claimed that irregularities and nepotism have occurred in most of the recruitment examinations in the last six years of BJP rule in the State. Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the Congress party the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said on Friday that the arrests are still being made in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) and scams have been exposed in the recruitment of the cooperative department.

The deputy leader of Congress legislature party (CLP) in the Assembly Bhuwan Kapdi claimed that the UKPSC has violated its own regulations in the recruitment examination conducted by it. He said that in the polytechnic examination 2015 conducted by the service commission, eight applicants were called for interview in place of the five as per the rules and added that the person getting least marks among the eight was selected as he was given maximum marks in the interview. He also showed the answer sheets of an examination conducted by the commission in which corrections in gross violation of the rules were made. Similarly there were differences in the total marks also.  Demanding a high level inquiry, Kapdi said that it is unfortunate that the State government has handed over the task of the recruitment of Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) and many examinations of UKSSSC to the UKPSC.  He further added that in the AE examination the candidates three times of number of posts were selected for interviews but in the recruitment of 776 posts of JE the commission has called 3,721 candidates for interview which accounts to about seven times of the number of posts which is against the rules and points towards corruption in the process. Continuing his attack on the commission, the Congress leader said that in the group C examinations only the residents of Uttarakhand are eligible to appear but the commission has made all those who have passed the class X and XII examination from Uttarakhand as eligible for the recruitment and has removed the compulsion of domicile certificate.  He said that this would prove to be detrimental for the interests of the youngsters of the State.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kapdi had also raised the issue in the Assembly during the recent winter session. The Congress leaders said that the party would continue to fight for the rights of the employed youths of the State. The party’s vice president ( organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi, chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
