Voters in remote village abstain from voting in protest

Residents of the remote Gadhai village in Chamoli district abstained from voting in the Lok Sabha election on Friday. The residents of this village in Joshimath block have been demanding a road to the village for many years now. With their demand not being fulfilled so far, the villagers boycotted the parliamentary election.

There are 575 voters in this village located in a landslide affected area. They had announced earlier that they would boycott the election in protest.
