Various decisions were taken for further improving the efficiency of the police personnel while also addressing issues related to their welfare at a vertical interaction presided over by the director general of police Ashok Kumar as part of Uttarakhand Police Manthan here on Saturday. The interaction was held to seek suggestions for better policing by personnel at the ground level. The DGP took various decisions based on the deliberations on various issues in the interaction. It was decided that there will not be a shortage of fuel for the Cheetah force motorcycles. A demand was also made to provide one motorcycle to each police post. Personnel in the women helpdesk and Cheetah mobile force will be provided CUG mobile phone numbers. In the future, attempts will be made to provide CUG mobile phone numbers to police posts as well. It was also decided that old inspectors, sub inspectors and constables will be made tech savvy. They will be provided training at the police lines and battalions to enable them to use technology efficiently. The services of retired expert DSPs, inspectors and sub inspectors will be taken for assistance in investigations for which they will be provided honorarium. Considering the positive effect of smart barracks on police personnel, toilets in police stations and posts will also be converted to smart toilets. The system of applying for leave through WhatsApp started for the welfare of police personnel will be implemented mandatorily. Leave will be granted immediately to police personnel who seek it for their or their family member’s birthday or anniversary. A committee headed by the commandant of 31st battalion will look into measures for improving living conditions in places where Provincial Armed Constabulary is based on a permanent basis. It was also decided that in case of personnel suspended or reverted to the line under public pressure, priority will be accorded to completing the inquiry within three days and then reviewing the case. Cultural programmes will be organised under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Police Wives Welfare Association to provide police personnel relief from stress.
