Members of the Van Raji tribe are looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Kumaon region as they will be able to meet the PM face to face for the first time. The Van Raji tribe comprises a small population confined mainly to two districts in the Kumaon region. The Didihat MLA Bishan Singh Chufal has visited the villages inhabited by the Van Raji tribe and invited them to attend the Prime Minister’s public rally to be held in Pithoragarh on October 12. Van Raji are the only primitive tribe of the State and their population is estimated to be about 1,000. Members of this tribe live mainly in Pithoragarh and Champawat districts.
