Uttarkashi celebrates consecration with religious fervour

In latest news from Uttarakhand, religious programmes with enthusiastic participation of people from all walks of life were held across the Uttarkashi district to celebrate the consecration of Ram Lalla at his birthplace temple in Ayodhya.   As part of the nation-wide celebration, the people lighted earthen diyas in their homes and distributed sweets. In Uttarkashi town, devotional songs and dances were presented and Ganga aarti was held on the bank of the scared rive with massive participation of people. Among those present were the district magistrate Abhishek Ruhela and the Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan. This aside, two-day Akhand Ramayana recitation programme had been organised at Shri Vishwanatha Snatakotar Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya to mark the consecration with the participation of teachers and students. In the run-up to the consecration, cleanliness drives were launched at all the major temples across the district and cultural/religious programmes were also held.  Schools organised painting competition. Health check-up, blood donation camps and veterinary camps were organised, too.  Notably, the week-long cultural/religious celebration had commenced on January 14 at the State government’s initiative.
