U’khand govt gears up to meet the Omicron threat

CM Dhami directs ministers in charge to take stock of the situation in their respective districts.

In view of the threat posed by the Omicron variant of Covid-19 the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the minister in-charges to visit their respective districts and take stock of the situation. After attending a marathon meeting of the state cabinet the CM took a review of the preparation of the government for the Omicron variant on Friday night. He said that a high level meeting would be organised on December 31 after the report from the districts arrives. In the meeting the CM said that a strict vigil on the situation should be kept.

The secretary health, Pankaj Kumar Pandey said that there are 27186 isolation beds in the state for treatment of Covid-19. He added that there 13,674 oxygen supported beds out of which 6572 can be reserved for treatment of patients of Covid-19 when required. Pandey said that there are 2113 ICU beds in the state out of which 1655 can be reserved for Covid-19 treatment.  He further informed that there are 1451 ventilators in the state and the government can reserve 1016 ventilators for treating Covid-19 patients. The secretary informed the CM that the state has 532 ambulances, 22,420 Oxygen cylinders, 9828 oxygen concentrators and 71  active oxygen generation plants. Apart from them work on 17 oxygen generation plants is currently in progress.

The cabinet minister Bishan Singh Chufal, Subodh Uniyal,  Dhan Singh Rawat, Swami Yatishwaranand, chief secretary S S Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, secretary Amit Negi, Shailesh Bagoli and Director General (DG) Police Ashok Kumar were present on the occasion.
