U’khand Congress holds massive protest at state secretariat

The party demands high level inquiry in the recruitment scam of class IV employees in the cooperative banks of the state

In protest against the scam in appointment of class IV workers in the cooperative banks of the state the Uttarakhand unit of Congress party held a massive protest near state secretariat on Monday. Former chief minister Harish Rawat, newly appointed president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Karan Mahra, the outgoing PCC president Ganesh Godiyal and large number of leaders and workers of the party took part in the protest.
Speaking on the occasion, former CM Harish Rawat said that the BJP government of Uttarakhand is immersed neck deep in corruption. He said that Covid-19 testing scam in Kumbh last year bears testimony of the fact that the open loot of Crores of Rupees of tax payers money had occurred. He demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry should be conducted in the Cooperative Bank scam, Covid testing scam and scam in the purchase of medicines and vaccines.

The outgoing PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said the scam in recruitment of class IV employees in the Cooperative Banks of the state has exposed the BJP government. He alleged that earlier too gross irregularities had occurred in recruitments in different posts in the Cooperative banks as examination that was conducted in NOIDA, UP. Godiyal added that a senior minister of the last government had acknowledged open corruption in the government.  He demanded that a high level inquiry should be ordered in the Cooperative Bank scam.

The newly appointed PCC president Karan Mahra said that the BJP government which boasts to have ‘zero tolerance on corruption has actually patronised corruption at every level. He said that the BJP government has a long list of scams and the NRHM scam, Scholarship scam, SIIDCUL scam and now Cooperative bank scam are the examples. He said that by keeping the Lokayukt Bill in limbo, the BJP government has already exposed itself and its rhetoric of Zero tolerance on corruption. Mahra warned that the Congress party would not tolerate the injustice on the unemployed and wage a war on the issue both inside the state assembly and outside it.

Former MLA Manoj Rawat, general secretary Mathura Dutt Joshi, Godavari Thapli, Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
