STF arrests two more accused of army jawan’s murder

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two wanted criminals from Panipat, Haryana for their alleged involvement in the murder of an army jawan during the Kanwad Yatra this year. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ayush Agrawal said that the STF has also recently arrested another accused Sumit for his alleged involvement in killing the army personnel, a resident of Muzaffarnagar. He said that the jawan was beaten to death by some men on July 25 after a fight broke out between two Kanwad groups when one of them overtook the other after collecting Gangajal in Haridwar. All the accused fled after the fight and since then, authorities have been making consistent efforts to arrest them. Agrawal said that the Haridwar police had also announced a bounty of Rs 10,000 on all accused in the case. He said that the STF received information late Wednesday night about the two accused- Gaurav and Rajpal Singh being located at Panipat. A team was immediately sent there and both accused were arrested and brought back to the State. The SSP said that both the accused wanted to surrender in the court, reportedly fearing being arrested by the STF since the arrest of their accomplice on Monday, but the officials caught them before they could surrender.
