The State administration has advised those willing to undertake the Char Dham Yatra to book their travel and accommodation only after checking the available slots to avoid any inconvenience. All slots are booked in the Char Dham shrines for the next seven days due to which registration will not be possible online or offline. The online and offline registration will resume as soon as slots become available.

According to the Tourism department, it was noticed recently that some travel agents are booking slots for the next month offline and departing with the pilgrims on the same day. Vehicles carrying such pilgrims were stopped by the police after checking documentation which also resulted in unnecessary inconvenience to the pilgrims. This is also resulting in crowds more than the capacity of Char Dham reaching the shrines which is also causing inconvenience to the pilgrims. Though slots for the next seven days are unavailable, the physical registration counters will remain open and pilgrims may register according to availability of slots and carrying capacity of the shrines. Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that the Tourism department has provided registration facility to the visitors according to the carrying capacity of the pilgrimage sites. As a result, all slots for pilgrims visiting the Char Dham shrines have been booked for the next one week.

The officials further informed that the slot system has been put in place to control the number of pilgrims according to the vehicular capacity. Along with online registration facility on the official website of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), upto 20 centres have been set up for offline registration at Rishikesh, Haridwar, sites on the Yatra circuit and on the borders of Uttarakhand.
