Monday, 03 July 2023 | PNS | LALAKUAN

The Lalkuan Junction railway station is all set to be modernised under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and Rs 23.81 crore is estimated to be spent on the execution of the project.

Century Pulp and Paper Mill of Birla Group is located near Lalkuan railway station. Revered temples like Raghunath temple and Ramvisheshwar temple are also situated in the close proximity of the station. Besides, there is an old colony located in this area. Around 39 trains pass through five platforms of the Lalkuan Junction daily.
Locals say that this is no surprise that this station has been selected under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

It is learnt that the station area would be expanded and to improve the condition of the surrounding areas of the station, low height walls and fencing will be installed on the sides of the road. A modern parking lot will be developed near the road to solve the parking problem. By developing a green belt between the station and the road, the place will be beautified and proper entrance/exit will be developed.

In the second phase of the work, a six- metre foot over bridge near the parking area would be developed as part of the master plan. The station façade would be improved through granitite flooring of the platforms.  Space would be provided for Railway Protection Force office in the surrounding area of the station.  The decoration of the booking counter and the waiting room would be enhanced through installation of additional new stainless steel benches. Besides, false ceiling will be installed in the booking counter and waiting room. Platform number 4 will be raised too and a six- metre wide foot over-bridge will be constructed. As per the master plan, covered pathway will be built on the platform connecting the foot over bridge to passenger shed.

As part of improving the lighting system, LEDs will be installed in the station premises. To further enhance the lighting system, flood lights will be installed.  Solar power panels will be set up too on the roof of the station building.

The locals are happy with the upcoming modernisation of the important railway junction station. “As the scheme will be implemented, the station will have a new modern look and the passengers will receive modern amenities. This modernization work is long overdue and we are happy that things are about to start now,” said a local living in the neighbourhood of the railway station.
