The statue of Adi Shankaracharya has been installed at the reconstructed Shankaracharya Samadhi in Kedarnath. It is slated to be unveiled by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit on November 5.

The reconstruction work in Kedarnath is on in full swing after the 2013 disaster. PM Modi had unveiled the foundation stone of the works during October in 2017 and had also announced at the time that the Samadhi of the great seer Adhi Shankaracharya will be reconstructed near the main shrine.

Now, the statue of the Adi Shankracharya has been installed near the shrine. The statue has been carved out in the state of Karnataka. The statue was brought to Kedarnath by a Chinook helicopter ahead of the PM’s visit.

Adi Shankaracharya was an Indian mystic and philosopher who consolidated the doctrines of Advaita Vedanta and made significant contributions towards unifying Hinduism by setting up four mathas across India. He is believed to have taken Samadhi at Kedarnath.
